Energy Now

We have become environmentally aware and committed to sustainable choices, yet our energy needs have increased. This is a result of both our increasing population and our lifestyle. Just look at computers — they are everywhere, and they are useless without electrical energy.

There are many factors to consider in choosing one method of energy production over another. These include:

•    the availability and “renewability” of the energy source
•    the toxicity of waste products
•    the cost of the whole process

It’s also important to consider that some factors (such as the toxicity of nuclear waste) can be established scientifically and others (such as the number of jobs that could be created) are political.

Here are some possibilities for alternatives in energy production. Some of them may be familiar to you, others less so.
